Earlier this year, MODX3 was all the rage, with weekly updates and an immense sprint that was actively reported on social media and here, on MODX.today. Since the final MODX3 project statement in July, which included a first alpha build for testing, it has been a bit quieter. So.. what's happening?

Following the MODX 2.6.5 release last week containing a critical security fix, today it has become clear that Gallery 1.7.0 (and before) are also vulnerable to a very similar vulnerability that can lead sites fully compromised. These exploits are being actively exploited, right now.

MODX has a pretty good track record of being secure, but that doesn't mean it's invulnerable. Today MODX Revolution 2.6.5 was released with critical security fixes that can lead to a fully compromised site, so you should start upgrading your sites immediately.
