It took me a while to decide whether I really wanted to shut up shop for a few days and travel from the UK to The Netherlands for what would be my first MODXpo event. After all, I have plenty of work on and am confident enough with MODX to do what I need to do, so what would be the benefit? I asked myself. What could I learn that might help me?

It's been so long since I’ve travelled that I’d forgotten the benefits of face-to-face interaction with like-minded people. Yes, it’s an opportunity to learn, but also a chance to recharge one’s batteries, to be revived, refreshed, and find new inspiration.

Well, I have to say, it was a blast, and I loved every minute of it. I arrived the evening before, and when I recognised Mark (from his profile pic) walking into the hotel restaurant, my table for one became a table for two and as others arrived the restaurant found us a bigger table as we quickly expanded to a group of around 7 people. It was such an enjoyable evening, good food, great company, and plenty of Swinkels (beer)!

The conference the following day was inspiring and informative with a good line up of speakers and plenty of opportunity for chat & networking. The day concluded with a social event in the evening in the hotel bar, more food, more chat and more Swinkels!

I left the venue the following morning, heading back to the UK with a renewed purpose and desire to take my MODX skills to the next level, not to mention great memories of good times with new friends.

Looking forward to the next one. MODXpo 2023? – Bring it on!
